For further information: click here Apply Online Link Primary Objective: Provide assistance and advice to the Sentence Management unit, including the preparation, development and review of individual Sentence Management Plans, including motivational interviewing and goal development with prisoners and participating in meetings and reviews. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in the development of individual Sentence Management Plans for prisoners, which includes activities to prepare for their transition to the community; 2. Conduct interviews for the development or review of individual Sentence Management Plans with prisoners; 3. Consult and provide advice to the Sentence Management Team on Sentence Management Plans for prisoners and sentence management activities and strategies; 4. Participate in Sentence Management Plans and reviews; 5. Ensure the Sentence Management systems within the centre comply with agency policies and procedures and relevant legislation and participate in the development and implementation of initiatives relating to offender management; 6. Provide assessments and reports as required, and maintain accurate, legible and proficient case notes, records and statistics; 7. Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team and participate in the ongoing development and implementation of sentence management policies and procedures and the Integrated Offender Management System. Selection Criteria: Essential: 1. Demonstrated high standard of written and oral communication skills; 2. Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, prioritise work-loads and approach issues in an innovative way; 3. Knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Indigenous people in contemporary Australian society and the ability and commitment to work within a cross cultural environment effecting change; 4. Knowledge of contemporary practices, procedures and ethics related to the use of criminogenic assessment tools; 5. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management practices and motivational interviewing principles; 6. Knowledge and understanding of current Government and non-Government programs and services relevant to the reintegration needs of all prisoners. 7. Sound working knowledge of computer, electronic media, and software package applications including MS Office word processing, spreadsheets and data bases. Desirable: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the requirement and limitations of working within a complex secure environment. Further Information: The Department of the Attorney-General and Justice (NT Correctional Services Division) has a Smoke Free Policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on Departmental premises, facilities or in vehicles, nor whilst working off-site. The preferred applicant/s will be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and the successful applicant/s will be required to undergo a criminal history check (confirmed by fingerprints and name check) prior to commencement of employment.
